Professional Statement

Carissa Brown brings 6 years of experience in the disability field, with a deep understanding of the challenges individuals face and a commitment to providing compassionate, personalized care. She has worked as an assistant to the Military Sexual Trauma Coordinator at the Veterans Administration, where she gained valuable insights into supporting individuals impacted by trauma.

Carissa believes in the power of empathy, curiosity, and cultural humility to help people navigate life’s challenges. Her approach is rooted in attentiveness and a genuine respect for each individual’s unique experiences, backgrounds, and journey. She is dedicated to creating a safe, non-judgmental space where clients can explore and resolve their challenges at their own pace.

Carissa has a particular passion for working with women affected by domestic violence or sexual trauma, helping them heal, rebuild, and empower themselves as they move forward in their recovery. She also has extensive experience working with diverse populations, and she adapts her approach to meet each client’s needs with cultural humility and respect.

In therapy, Carissa draws on evidence-based treatment modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)-informed approaches, and Motivational Interviewing. These modalities provide practical tools and support as clients work toward making meaningful, lasting changes.

If you’re looking for a compassionate, experienced therapist who can offer a tailored approach to your healing and growth, Carissa would love to connect. Together, you can work toward the positive change you deserve.
