Student Therapist, MSW

Xiomara Deno

Hello, my name is Xiomara, and I am currently pursuing a Master of Social Work (MSW) through the Indiana University School of Social Work. Salam Therapy is my second internship placement within the MSW program. My first practicum was with the IU School of Medicine’s Children’s Health Services Research division, where I contributed to initiatives aimed at advancing systems-level change in marginalized communities to improve maternal and child health outcomes.

In addition to my academic training, I bring over six years of experience working in high-volume medical offices, where I developed strong skills in medical terminology, patient confidentiality, and professional communication.

At Salam Therapy, my responsibilities include enhancing my clinical observation through shadowing, researching evidence-based treatment modalities, and deepening my understanding and practice of cultural humility. As both a student and an emerging professional, I am committed to developing my therapeutic approach while upholding the values of ethical practice, empathy, and lifelong learning. I look forward to continuing to grow alongside dedicated colleagues and the clients we serve.
